Beckham has become a family name. Yes he is succeeding. But don't overlook the millions of other names that are contributing to the soccer world in smaller ways.
Armstrong is one young woman creating a stir in the soccer world as a coach, now in Seattle. Not everyone has had the same opportunities as David Beckham. He had a movie named after him which millions of young people watched. That is hard to beat. I don't think he was a waste of money. Someone has to be at the top. Someone has to push through the wall and bring soccer to the forefront.
I would like to see more female players given the same opportunity. In my opinion is not a 'single handed' effort, after all soccer is a team sport.
